Seeking Elderly Educators for Senior Meeting Places

We are currently looking for two elderly educators for our meeting places for seniors. Both positions are permanent and have the same core mission – to work health-promoting and preventive to strengthen seniors' well-being and participation. The positions differ in working methods and placement.

Warm welcome with your application!

Job Responsibilities

One position involves a fixed placement at a meeting place, where you will daily meet seniors in a safe and welcoming environment. Together with colleagues, you will plan, lead, and develop activities based on the visitors' interests and needs. The work is characterized by continuity, relationships, and community, and you have a clear foundation in the daily work at the meeting place.

The other position is linked to the project Flexible Meeting Places – Meeting Places in Motion, which starts in 2026. The work is more mobile and outreach, without a fixed meeting place, and aims to reach older adults in new ways and in different locations in Malmö. You will work closely with volunteers, associations, and other local actors to create flexible and inclusive meeting formats. The project initially runs during 2026, with the possibility of extension, and if the project does not continue, the position will transition to work at a meeting place with a fixed placement.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a bachelor's degree (180 credits) in one of the following areas: social work, elderly education, social pedagogy, care pedagogy, public health science, or behavioral science
  • Experience working with the elderly
  • Has a driver's license
  • Can ride a bike
  • Has good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
  • Is accustomed to using a computer as a work tool and has the willingness and ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new programs and systems

It is meritorious if you:

  • Have further education in, for example, motivational interviewing and/or low-arousal approach
  • Have experience in municipal operations
  • Have experience in project management and coordination
  • Have experience using digital channels for environmental monitoring, communication, or networking, for example via social media
  • Are multilingual, as several different languages are spoken at our meeting places

You are proactive and creative, bringing ideas and new approaches that are implemented in practice and yield results. You are relationship-building and attentive, establishing trusting contacts with seniors, colleagues, and external actors. With independence and flexibility, you can act confidently in various situations and adapt to changing circumstances. You communicate clearly and engagingly, listen actively, and create participation in both smaller and larger groups. In the role, you also need to feel comfortable standing in front of an audience and, for example, presenting information and leading activities – such as light exercise or other social elements – in a way that creates joy and engagement.
